Skins Style: Effy Stonem

Effy Stonem is the resident fashion maven of Skins. Even at her most bedraggled, she carries off an easy, "I-just-woke-up-looking-this-stylish" air that matches her mystery. Effy's a tortured soul whose character is articulated through her clothing. Generally, distressed or deconstructed, Effy's uniform consists of simple shift dresses, a bounty of statement necklaces and a forearm filled with bangles paired with combat boots.






Unlike Taylor Momsen's overdone raccoon eyes, Effy's hooded lids have just the right amount of dark, smudgey shadow, usually in tones of blue, grey and black.




One of my favorite Effy outfits, was from the opening of series 3 of Skins. From the first moment that she is spotted by Freddy, JJ and Cook (who would all end up as rivals for her affections), she entices them in an ethereal gray babydoll dress that barely skims her bottom and is kept moderately appropriate by a pair of boy-shorts and fishnet tights.



Effy's portrayer, Kaya Scodelario, has become a fashionista in her own right, with a style that is a refined version of her character. Simple, yet stylish and well put together.

Overall, Effy and Kaya have a style that can only be described as arresting, which is why I decided to feature her for my inaugural post.
